Olio di Iperico

L’estratto oleoso di Iperico, più noto come olio di Iperico, è preparato da Erbamea con le sommità fiorite di questa pianta, appena raccolte sulle colline umbre, poste a macerare in olio di Oliva, in vasi di vetro esposti al sole, fino a quando l’olio assume il caratteristico colore rosso. La raccolta è fatta alla fine di giugno. La tradizione vuole che l’Iperico sia in piena fioritura il 24 giugno, giorno di San Giovanni Battista: per questo è conosciuto comunemente come “Erba di San Giovanni”.
L’olio di Iperico è usato per le sue proprietà emollienti e lenitive su pelli arrossate e inaridite a causa di un’eccessiva esposizione al sole, al vento e ad altri agenti esterni.
